But just like Jesus ancestor, King David, was a shepherd, we see shepherds taking center stage in Jesus story again. Of all the people the angels could have appeared to and proclaimed the news of Jesus birth, God chose a group of shepherds out in the field with their sheep. He could have picked religious leaders or royalty, but he chose a people considered to be lower class.
